US-monitored volcanoes only. USGS HANS covers volcanoes monitored by US observatories, so this page does not show volcanoes or eruptions elsewhere in the world.

What the alert levels mean
USGS pairs a colour code (for aviation) with a ground-based alert level. This page lists only volcanoes above normal; an elevated level is not the same as an eruption in progress.
- REDWARNING
- A hazardous eruption is imminent, underway or suspected.
- ORANGEWATCH
- Unrest is heightening or escalating and an eruption is possible, or an eruption is underway with limited hazards.
- YELLOWADVISORY
- Unrest is above the volcano’s known background level. It does not mean an eruption is imminent.
- GREENNORMAL
- Typical background activity. Not listed here unless USGS reports it as elevated.
